Synopsis

Set in the 1970's, the film centers on two little girls, who struggle with their mother’s bipolar disease that constantly disrupts their lives and burdens them to grow up early. As her mother’s illness takes a dark turn, Sapphire, the older of the two, has to come to terms with the fact that her mother will never be normal.

Written and directed by Kim and Florine Nüesch, this deeply emotional story is semi-autobiographical. Inspired by their upbringing through their bipolar mother, they tell a story about the relationship between mothers and daughters and how who takes care of who can become interchangeable.
